Tamang Heritage Trek is the newly opened trekking destination which offers you wonderful highlights of an ancient lifestyle, traditions and healing baths in natural hot spring. The trail goes through the indigenous village of Tibetans who changed their ethnicity to Tamang and their cultural and traditions are similar to the Tibetan across the border. This trekking destination is just a day long bus journey from the capital.

The starting point of this trek begins from Shyaprubesi/Dhunche and trail pass through Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddhim. During the Trekking it provides varieties of experience like about rituals, culture, festivals and to interact with people who are professional in their daily work. Tamang heritage Trek provides a unique experience to emphasize tradition, culture and to enjoy hot bath in the healing hot-water.

Day 01
Kathmandu

We will pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel Excelsior or similar

Day 02
Kathmandu - Shyabrubesi (1460 m) 9 hrs

This day we will drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi which takes about nine hours by local bus. By jeep it will take about 7 hours drive to Shyabrubesi. We head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along Rani Pouwa we will catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, Langtang himal, terraces and green hills. Overnight at lodge.

Day 03
Shyabrubesi – Gatlang (2238 m) 5 hrs

This day we will walk for about 5 hours to reach Gatlang. We will walk for about 2 and half hours uphill and again 2 and half hours through straight trail. On the way we will cross few Tamang villages, meet local people mostly tamangs.  (Tamang are one of the ethnic groups of Nepal). Overnight at lodge

Day 04
Gatlang – Tatopani (2607 m) 5 hrs

This day we will walk for about 5 hours to reach Tatopani through downhill trail first and then straight trail. After crossing small river, again we will walk through uphill trail. On the way we will cross small Tamang villages.In Tatopani there is hot spring, People of Nepal believe that having bath in this hot spring will heal various skin diseases, so people of different parts of Nepal visit there to have a bath.Overnight at lodge

Day 05
Tatopani – Nagthali (3165 m) – Thuman (2338 m) 5hrs

This day we will walk for about 2 hours to reach Nagthali, from here we can see good views few peaks such as Paldor Peak, Langtang range, mountains of Tibet side. After having lunch at Nagthali we will again walk for about 3 hours through downhill trail to reach Thuman. On the way we will cross small jungle.Thuman is big Tamang village, we can interact with local people, and get information about local culture and tradition. Overnight at lodge

Day 06
Thuman – Briddhim (2229 m) 6/7 hrs

This day we will walk for about6/7 hours to reach Briddhim. First 3 hours we will walk through narrow trail. On the way we will cross few Tamang and Sherpa villages, corn fields, cross Bhotekoshi river through suspension bridge. After crossing Bhotekoshi river we will reach Briddhim. Overnight at lodge

Day 07
Briddhim – Rimche (2455m) or Lama Hotel (2340 m.) 6hrs

This day we will walk for about 6 hours. On the way we will walk through mostly straight trail, cross Tamang and Sherpa villages, small jungles, see views of surrounding areas. Lama Hotel is just 15 minutes walk from Rimche. From Lama hotel we cannot see good views and we cannot see sunlight in early morning. Rimche is better and open place, we can feel sunlight till late evening.  Overnight at lodge

Day 08
Lama Hotel - Thulo Shapru (2210 m) 3 hrs and 30 min.

This day we will walk all the way down towards Landslide hotel. After walking for about 3 and half hours we will reach Landslide hotel. We will have lunch at Landslide hotel. After having lunch we will walk for about 2 hours through uphill trail towards  Thulo Syabru. From Thulo Syabru we can see good views of Paldor peak, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and Langtang Ri. Overnight at lodge.

Day 09
Thulo Syabru – Dhunche (1960m). 5 hrs 30 min

We will trek from Thulo Syabru to Dhunche and it takes about 5 hours 30 minutes. You will be walking 3 hours on the zigzag trail to rhododendron forest, pine forest and orchard garden. After that, it will be 2 hours 30 minutes walk on the motorway. Overnight at lodge

Day 10
Dhunche - Kathmandu. 6/ 7 hrs

We will drive from Dhunche to Kathmandu, it takes 5 hours by jeep and 7 hours by bus. Overnight at hotel Excelsior or similar

Day 11
Kathmandu

This day you will be free for various activities such as shopping ,sightseeing and etc. Overnight at  hotel Excelsior or similar

Day 12
Final departure from Kathmandu
