Chulu West

Chulu west(6419m/21,055ft) located to the north of Manang. It dominants the semi-arid flatlands of the Manang Valley with its structure. It is regarded as technically harder because it requires a long climb in which two high camps need to established. But it allows witnessing daring adventure who pursue a challenge in the Annapurna Region. Hence it is the highest broad peak which was first submitted by the Japanese Expedition in 1952. There is numerous peak close by therefore it is difficult to differentiate between the two Chulus East and West. Normally the base camp is located at the north of Manang. The attempt to Chuluwest is not tough, but due to its slopes which are exposed to the avalanche in certain conditions. It is the 5th highest peak out of 18 peaks which are listed in NMA.

Most of the climbers say that Chulu is renowned as the best peaks. It offers panoramic views of Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Nilgiri (7061 m), Annapurna range and other peaks. For successful completion for climbing climbers should have a good physical condition. Chulu West peak is a part of Manang Himal. The climbing trail begins Khudi and leads towards Manang Valley where Base Camp is established in the north. From base camp, the climbing route follows North-West ridge which leads up to the main peak. For attempt of Chulu Central peak (6,429m/21,060ft) which is located at the east of Chulu West. During the climbing period, we set up two camps which will be used during climbing. After successful completion of climbing, we will follow the route via the Thorung-La Pass and Muktinath to Jomsom. Where we take a fly from Jomsom to fly Pokhara and drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 01
Kathmandu

After arrival in Kathmandu airport we will transfer to hotel and free day.

Day 02
Kathmandu

Free day in  Kathmandu city sightseeing tour, preparation for trekking. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03
Kathmandu - Beshi Sahar (823m) – Syange (1100 m)

Early morning  5/6 hours drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar by local/private vehicle.And 3 hours drive from Besisahar to Syange by local Jeep. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 04
Syange - Dharapani (1860m.) 7/8 hours.

After breakfast in the morning we will follow trail that leads from Syange to Dharapani. The trail goes along the river through bamboo groves. Along the we would also cross barley and potato fields at Dharapani. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 05
Dharapani - Chame (2670m.) 5/6 hours.

On this day after one hour trek from Dharapani we will be at Bagarchhap where we can visit the Tibetan Monastery and see some glimpse of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. The trail ascend along the mule track through pine and fir forest and then follows the river for a time. Overnight at lodge.

Day 06
Chame - Upper Pisang (3200m.) 5/6 hours.

The trail follows through the river valley, stay at Pisang with magnificent view of Pisang peak and Annapurna 2.Overnight at Lodge.

Day 07
Upper Pisang - Ngawal (3660m.) 5/6 hours

Passing through the trail on the way to Ngawal. It offers a view of wide variety of crops as well as different kinds of wild animals and a life style of people who will remind of glimpse of Tibet. From Ngawal it provides picturesque of view of Annapurna range.

Day 08
Acclimatization at Ngawal (3660m.)

This is a rest day to acclimatize to the higher altitude. Explore for the local site.

Day 09
Ngawal - Base Camp (4600m.) 5/6 hours.

The trail ascend straight to reach base camp. We can see massif view of the mountain. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 10
Base camp - high Camp ( aprox. 5000 m ) 4/5 hours.

From the base camp we have to ascend at least 4 to 5 hours to be at the high camp.Overnight at tented camp.

Day 11
High camp - Sumit Chulu East (6584m) or Chulu Far East (6429 m)

Normally on this day we will wake up early at 02:00 AM in the morning and head towards Summit. We will reach summit approximately after 5 to 6 hours. We will return to Base Camp, or Ngawal. Setup camp (BC) or overnight at  lodge in Ngawal.

Day 12
Extra day

Day 13
BC or Ngawal - Ledar (4200m) 6/7 hours

From the base camp we have to descend towards Ledar. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 14
Ledar - Thorong Phedi (4450m.) 3/4 hours.

On this day if your luck permit you can see herds of blue mountain. Over night at Lodge

Day 15
Crossing Thorong-La (5416m.) - Muktinath (3800m) 8/9 hours.

Ascend steeply to high camp at 4550 m then passing through a trail to the flat top of Thorong-La (5416m).Then trail descend steeply down to Muktinath. Muktinath is important pilgrimage sights for Hindus, it is also home for many ethnics Tibetans and holy Buddhists. On this day explore around Temple. Over night at Lodge

Day 16
Muktinath - Jomsom (2710m) 5/6 hours.

After breakfast in the morning trail descend towards Jharkot from Muktinath which is one hours walk from Muktinath, Along the way we can see an ancient monastery. From here we will directly descend towards Kagbeni, After 2 and half hours walk from Kagbeni we will reach Jomsom. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 17
Jomsom – Pokhara

Early morning fly Jomsom to Pokhara and transfer to hotel and free day for Sight seeing around Gupteshore cave, David fall, Seti gorge, Pokhara Regional museum, Bindabasini temple and Tibetan refuse camp. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 18
Pokhara – Kathmandu

This day, transfer to airport  return back to Kathmandu by flight. It will take 25 minutes flight form Pokhara to reach Kathmandu. Otherwise we can drive by private vehicles 5 hours and 7 hours tourist bus to reach Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 19
Kathmandu

Free day for shopping and other activities. Overnight at  hotel.

Day 20
Final departure day

Transfer to airport and fly to your destination.
